ROODHOUSE — Two Roodhouse residents remained lodged in the Greene County Jail on Thursday after police said they uncovered a marijuana sales and distribution operation in the city.

Sheriff’s deputies and officers from Roodhouse, White Hall and Carrollton police, as well as agents from the Illinois State Police South Central Illinois Drug Task Force, executed a search warrant about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday at a residence in the 400 block of West Palm Street.

Police subsequently arrested Jimmy J. Crain, 56, and Beverly A. Murrow, 50, on charges related to cannabis sales and distribution.

Officers reported recovering a large amount of cannabis and several thousand dollars in cash. Charges were filed against both of felony possession of cannabis, felony possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver and felony cannabis trafficking.

Weapons were also recovered at the residence, which led to the additional charge of possession of a firearm by a felon against Jimmy Crain, who police said was convicted in 2011 of possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver.
