A marker commemorating the second Morgan County Courthouse, which was used from 1830 until the existing courthouse was built in 1868, was dedicated Tuesday in Central Park. The marker is in memory of former Jacksonville Mayor Ron Tendick, who suggested it in 2011. The courthouse was the center of legal and political activities that involved governors, judges, attorneys as well as Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas. The marker was sponsored by the Illinois State Historical Society, the Morgan County Historical Society, the city of Jacksonville and Morgan County.
