Five seriously injured
in single-vehicle crash
Five people were seriously injured early Sunday in a single-vehicle crash on Old State Road, according to authorities.
Jacksonville police said a car being driven by Anderson P. Rouland, 19, of Jacksonville was going east on Old State Road about 3 a.m. when it went onto the shoulder of the road while maneuvering a curve. The driver tried to correct the vehicle but lost control and went into a ditch, striking a culvert and going airborne before rolling several times into a cornfield.
In addition to Rouland, four passengers also were injured: Jordan T. Lahey, 19, of Jacksonville; LCJ Pitman, 19, of Jacksonville; Shawn D. Bentley, 20, of Beardstown; and Kobe M. Allen, 18, of Jacksonville.
The injured were taken by ambulance or helicopter to Passavant Area Hospital, Memorial Medical Center in Springfield and St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. All suffered traumatic injuries, according to police. Their conditions late Sunday were unavailable.

ACCIDENTS
• Emily B. Lyons, 20, of South Jacksonville was cited on a charge of following too closely after the vehicle she was driving hit a vehicle being driven by Sandra J. Bruns, 65, of Jacksonville about 5:45 p.m. Saturday. Bruns’ vehicle was stopped in traffic at Superior Avenue and Diamond Street, according to police. She was taken to Passavant Area Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
