Illinois College will continue its Fine Arts Series with a performance Friday by a St. Louis-based chamber quintet with a familiar face.
Waverly native Ann Homann is a founding member of the group, which got its start in 1999.
The woodwind ensemble performs both traditional and more recent works, commissioning new works and arrangements and providing support for the new musical talents who create them.
Equinox has been featured in the PBS documentary “Continental Harmony,” has performed on PBS and National Public Radio, and has been featured in Chamber Music America magazine. All of the group’s members have played with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and assorted other orchestras and ensembles around the world.
Streaming samples of the group’s music are available on its website at equinoxchamberplayers.org.
IC started its Fine Arts Series in 1979 to enrich Jacksonville’s cultural and artistic community by bringing to campus a range of nationally and internationally known musicians and other performers.
Tickets for Friday’s performance, which starts at 7:30 p.m. in IC’s Rammelkamp Chapel, are $15 for adults and free to students of all ages. For more information, call 217-245-3069 or email fas@ic.edu.
