Woman unable to get out of house dies in fire
LOAMI — A Loami woman died Saturday in a fire at her residence.
Barbara Smith, 66, of Loami was unable to get out of her house at 409 E. Center St. after it caught fire about 9 p.m. Saturday, according to Sangamon County Coroner Cinda Edwards.
She was found dead inside when rescue personnel gained entry, Edwards said.
Illinois State Police and the Loami police and fire departments are investigating the fire.
