CARROLLTON — An 85-year-old Wrights woman was flown to a Springfield hospital with serious injuries after a collision between her van and a pickup truck pulling a trailer.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to U.S. 67 at Berdan Road at 9:50 a.m. Monday after Gloria J. Latham, 85, of Wrights pulled from Berdan Road onto U.S. 67 and into the path of the pickup truck, according to a sheriff’s department report.
Latham was partially ejected from the vehicle and had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was flown to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. Her condition was unavailable Monday evening.
The driver of the pickup truck, Brian J. Robeza, 60, of Staunton, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Thomas H. Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton. His condition was unavailable Monday evening.
Members of the Carrollton Fire and Rescue Department responded to the scene, and officers from Carrollton and White Hall police departments assisted with traffic control. The road was closed for about 90 minutes while the crash was investigated and the vehicles were cleared from the scene.
Latham was cited on charges of failure to yield right-of-way and failure to wear a seat belt.
