Emmet Eugene Brown is the first newborn at Passavant Area Hospital in 2016.
He was born at 3:19 a.m. Monday and weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces. Parents are Haley and Richard Brown of Jacksonville.
Emmet has a 3-year-old brother, Ayden, and a half brother, Richard, and three half sisters, Haylee, Brooklynn and Riley.
In recognition of the first newborn of the year, Passavant presented the family with a gift basket.
